How to Download X Videos on iPhone
SuperDL is designed for the iPhone workflow: find a public X/Twitter post you are allowed to save, share it to the Shortcut, pick a quality, and let your device download the file directly. It is meant for your own media, posts you have permission to download, or content you are otherwise legally allowed to save.
Quick answer
For regular downloads, add SuperDL to Apple Shortcuts, share a public X post to SuperDL, choose an available video option, and allow the save to Photos. For a one-off download, paste the post link into the X video downloader in Safari.
Choose a method
- Shortcut: install once, then start from the share sheet while browsing X. This is convenient when you save videos regularly.
- Safari: use the web tool without adding a Shortcut. Open the returned media link and save it using the options your browser provides.
Before you start
You need a public X or Twitter status URL with video attached. SuperDL does not work with private accounts, deleted posts, login-only media, profile pages, search pages, or timeline URLs. If you are not sure whether you have permission to save a video, do not download or redistribute it.
1. Add the SuperDL Shortcut
Open the SuperDL Shortcut page on your iPhone and request the Shortcut link. After adding it to Apple Shortcuts, SuperDL can appear in the iOS share sheet when you share a compatible URL.
2. Copy or share the X post link
Open the public post that contains the video. Use the X share button to copy the link, or share directly to SuperDL from the iOS share sheet when available. The link should look like an individual post URL, such as https://x.com/username/status/1234567890 or https://twitter.com/username/status/1234567890.
3. Choose SuperDL from the share sheet
When you choose SuperDL, the Shortcut sends the post URL to the resolver. The resolver checks whether it is a supported public X/Twitter status URL, looks for available video files, and returns download options when the post is supported.
4. Pick a video quality
Some posts expose more than one MP4 option. SuperDL sorts available media options best-first, so the first option is usually the best quality. Choose a smaller file when speed matters or your connection is weak.
5. Save to Photos or Files
Your iPhone downloads the selected file. The video travels directly from the media host to your device; SuperDL does not store a copy. For permission and destination questions, see saving to Photos with Shortcuts.
If the download fails
Failures usually come from private media, unsupported URL formats, deleted posts, upstream platform changes, or expired media links. Try resolving the post again, confirm that it is a public status URL, and check the troubleshooting guide if the issue repeats.
Use the web downloader as a backup
If the Shortcut is not available on a device, use the X Video Downloader page. It uses the same resolver and shows available direct media options in the browser.
If Safari opens the video instead of saving it
Opening a media result may start playback. Use Safari’s Share menu to save the video when that option is available. If Safari downloads it to Files, open the downloaded file and use Share to save it to Photos when supported. The available menu depends on the file and your device.
Check the result
Open Photos and look for the saved video. If you chose a Files destination, check that folder instead. A result appearing in the web tool means a media link was found; it does not confirm that your device finished downloading the file.
Responsible use
SuperDL is for authorized public videos only. Do not use it to copy private media, evade platform restrictions, or redistribute copyrighted content without permission. For ownership and removal questions, read the Copyright page.
