How to Save Bluesky Videos on iPhone

To save a Bluesky video, copy the link to its public post and open the SuperDL Bluesky downloader in Safari. For regular saves, add the SuperDL Shortcut and share the post to it instead. Use either method for videos you own or have permission to download.

Start with a post link, not a profile

Open the individual post containing the video. Use its share menu to copy the link. If you are viewing Bluesky in a browser, open the post before copying the address.

A post link has this shape: https://bsky.app/profile/NAME/post/POST_ID. This is a format example, not a downloadable video. A profile address without /post/ does not identify a video.

Accounts with custom-domain handles work too: keep the complete bsky.app post link, including that handle. SuperDL also accepts post links with a did:plc: account identifier. Do not replace the author or post ID manually.

Option 1: save using Safari

  1. Open the Bluesky video downloader, paste the post link, and confirm you have permission to save the media.
  2. Select Get media. If the post exposes a supported MP4 file, SuperDL shows the available media options.
  3. Open a result. It may play in Safari or download as a file, depending on how the media host and browser handle it.
  4. Use the browser’s save or Share options when available. If the file downloads to Files, open it there and use Share to save the video to Photos when supported.
  5. Check Photos or the destination in Files to confirm the file was saved. Finding a media result does not itself mean the download finished.

If you cannot find a downloaded file, check the Downloads folder in Files. Apple explains how to find downloads on iPhone. The folder can depend on your Safari download settings.

Option 2: save from the share sheet

  1. Request the installation link on the SuperDL Shortcut page. Open the emailed iCloud link on your iPhone, review the actions, and add it to Apple Shortcuts.
  2. Open a public Bluesky video post and share its link to SuperDL. If it is not listed, check that the Shortcut is installed and enabled in the share sheet.
  3. Choose an available video option. Your iPhone downloads the file and the Shortcut saves it to Photos. Review the permission prompts before allowing the actions.
  4. Open Photos to find the saved video.

Apple’s share-sheet instructions explain how to enable a Shortcut in other apps. An app must share suitable content for the Shortcut to appear; menu labels can vary.

Why a Bluesky video may not download

The post plays on Bluesky, but SuperDL finds no MP4
Playback in Bluesky does not guarantee that a supported direct MP4 is available to SuperDL. The tool does not convert streams or create a new video file. Check that the post has an attached Bluesky video rather than a link to another video site.
Only one quality is listed
That may be the only supported file exposed by the post. SuperDL does not upscale the video or create extra quality options.
A result worked earlier but no longer opens
Paste the original post link again to request fresh media options. Direct media links may expire, or the original post may have been removed.
The web tool works, but saving from the Shortcut fails
Check the Shortcut’s permissions and your device’s available storage. Use the web method to separate a post-resolution issue from a local saving issue.

If the problem persists, send support the public post link, exact error, device type, and whether you used Safari or the Shortcut. Never send account passwords or access tokens.

What happens to the video?

SuperDL finds a direct media link; your device downloads the file from the media host. SuperDL does not keep a copy of the video. Post URLs and request information are processed to run and protect the service; see how SuperDL works and the privacy details.
